Where are the camps held?
Camps are held at the University of North Carolina campus in beautiful Chapel Hill, NC. Practices will be held at Koury Natatorium.
Who are the coaches at the camp?
The Carolina Swimming Camp offers the finest coaching staff, guest speakers, and counselors. Head Coach Rich DeSelm, Assistant Coaches Mike Litzinger, Eric Stefanski, Christy Garth, Sean Quinn, and Volunteer Assistant Coach Ryan Woodruff have worked hard to ensure that each camper has a safe, positive experience while attending camp. Camp will also include great coaches from around the United States.
Will my child need bed linens and toiletries?
Each camper is required to bring the following: two towels, swimsuits & goggles, bed sheets or sleeping bag, pillow, shower items, gym shoes, toothbrush and toothpaste, rain gear.
Optional items that campers may want to bring: reading material, music, snacks, floor fan, combination lock, personal spending money for souvenirs.
Will my child be supervised in the dorm?
Yes. Our counselors are experienced, mature, responsible individuals who are hand-picked by the camp administrators. Counselors will live in the dormitory with the campers, supervise them 24 hours a day, attend meals, and assist coaches during pool instruction.
How many campers will there be in each dorm room?
What about roommate requests?
Will my child be matched with his/her roommate preference?
All campers will be housed with roommates. If there is a specific person your child wishes to room with, please put that person's name on the registration form. The other person will also need to list your child's name on his or her registration form.
If your child prefers a single room, you will need to indicate this on the registration form. An additional fee of $100 for weekly campers and $25 for mini-camp will be assessed if your child wishes to have an individual room.
How much spending money should I send with my camper?
We recommend that your camper have between $25-$50 for movies, video games, ice cream, etc.
How will the campers get from the dorm to the pool?
The dormitory will be located close to both the dining hall and Koury Natatorium. Campers will walk to and from meals and practices.
Do I really need a physician's signature on these forms?
Yes. No camper will be allowed to participate without a doctor's written permission. A note from a physician may be used in lieu of the official permission form. All permission forms and physician notes are to be turned in no later than May 30, 2010.
Flight Information
If you plan to fly into the Raleigh-Durham airport for camp and you need a ride from the airport to campus, please forward your flight itinerary to the Camp Director as early as possible so the schedule can be set to pick you up from the airport. There is an additional charge of $40 for travel to and from the airport.
Camp Deposit
There is a non-refundable camp deposit of $100.
